THE JUDGING PROCESS

Our judging process is designed to assess each participant fairly, based on their skills, creativity, and adherence to the competition’s themes. The process includes:

1. Initial Screening –
   All submitted portfolios and entries will be reviewed by the WFC Prize team to ensure they meet the competition’s standards and requirements. Accepted participants will then be presented to the judging panel.
2. Themed Challenge Evaluations –
   During the competition, participants will be evaluated on how well they complete each themed challenge. The judges will assess submissions for creativity, execution, and how effectively they represent the assigned theme (Identity and Heritage, The Power of Sustainability, and Innovation and Adaptability).
3. Feedback Sessions –
   Throughout the competition, participants will receive feedback from the judges, allowing them to refine their skills and improve their work. This ensures a learning process that helps participants grow and adapt.
4. Regional & Grand Finale Judging –
   The top participants from each category will advance to the regional finale, where they will be evaluated on a larger scale. Finalists will then compete in the Grand Finale in Amsterdam, where the judges will select the ultimate winners.

JUDGING CRITERIA FOR EACH CATEGORY

The judging panel will evaluate participants based on the following criteria, tailored to each category:

Rising Independent Designer

• Creativity & Innovation: The originality and innovation demonstrated in the designer’s sketches and final garments.
• Technical Skill: Mastery in design techniques, fabric choice, construction, and execution of the final look.
• Collection Cohesion: How well the designs work together as a cohesive collection, with clear storytelling and vision.
• Theme Integration: How effectively the designs reflect the competition’s themes (Identity and Heritage, Sustainability, and Innovation).

Rising Photographer

• Creativity & Vision: How well you capture unique and innovative concepts in your images.
• Technical Skill: Mastery of photography techniques, including lighting, composition, and focus.
• Storytelling: Ability to convey a fashion narrative through your photography.
• Theme Interpretation: How effectively your work reflects the competition’s themes.

Rising Model

• Presence & Charisma: Ability to command attention and express emotion in front of the camera.
• Versatility: Demonstrating adaptability in embodying different styles, concepts, and moods.
• Movement & Posing: Fluidity, confidence, and the ability to convey a story through poses.
• Theme Representation: How well you embody the competition’s themes through your modeling.

Rising Stylist

• Creativity & Innovation: Ability to create cohesive and impactful looks that tell a story.
• Attention to Detail: Careful selection of clothing, accessories, colors, and textures.
• Trend Awareness: Knowledge of fashion trends and how to incorporate them into styling.
• Theme Adherence: How effectively your styling reflects the competition’s themes.

Rising Hair & Makeup Artist

• Technical Skill: Mastery of hair and makeup techniques, from basic to advanced.
• Creativity & Adaptability: Ability to create diverse and innovative looks.
• Complements Fashion Concept: How well the hair and makeup enhance the overall fashion vision.
• Theme Interpretation: How effectively your artistry aligns with the competition’s themes.

Rising Performer

• Stage Presence & Engagement: Ability to captivate and engage the audience during a live performance.
• Creativity & Adaptability: Innovation in performance style, choreography, or musical composition, with the ability to adapt to the fashion show environment.
• Performance Integration: How well the performance complements and enhances the fashion presentation.
• Theme Interpretation: How effectively the performance aligns with the competition’s themes, adding depth and storytelling to the fashion show.

Excellence in Fashion Education

• Creativity & Innovation (Student Work): The level of creativity and innovation demonstrated by the student designers.
• Technical Expertise: Mastery of fashion techniques, construction, and craftsmanship demonstrated in the students’ collections.
• Institution’s Support for Innovation: How well the institution fosters creativity and innovation in its curriculum and student development.
• Presentation & Execution: The quality and execution of the final collections presented during the IFW Amsterdam show.
• Theme Representation: How effectively the collections reflect the competition’s themes.

JUDGING PANEL

Our panel consists of industry experts with extensive experience in fashion, photography, modeling, styling, performance, and makeup artistry. Each judge is selected based on their expertise and commitment to nurturing new talent in the fashion industry. Throughout the competition, they will provide valuable insights, feedback, and guidance to help participants grow and excel.
